Day 12 - Verse 11

They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk of your power;  Verse 11

It is hard to contain your excitement when something wonderful happens.  You just can’t

stop talking about it.
I remember when man first walked on the moon back on July 20, 1969.  I was just 14 when Neil Armstrong uttered those famous words, “One small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind.”  What an understatement!   Profound and poetic, yet I wonder if he knew how prophetic.

Euphoria, patriotism and authentic pride filled every man, woman and child as we watched this historic event unfold before our eyes right in our own living rooms.  It may seem inconsequential today, over 40 years and many space projects later.  But, the impact of those NASA beginnings is still before us, in fact, in the palm of our hand.

Literally, nearly every bit of information and telecommunications technology and computer function we take for granted today were developed in connection with the space program.

At that time, we could only imagine the kind of kingdom and power that had begun.  We used to dream of being able to talk remotely, yet face to face, like the astronauts.  Hah!  That’s old news now, with Skype and iPads.

But, when Apollo 11 landed in 1969, it was miraculous that Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins watched Commander Armstrong dancing on the moon and filmed it for all of us to see instantly!

Technology was only one part of this kingdom:  Mylar, liquid nutrition, air purification, plastics, shatterproof glass, nuclear power and incredibly powerful fuels, to name just a few, spawned other industries for consumer use over the years.

The medical field has also been greatly advanced by technologies developed for man’s exploration of space.  So much good, so many blessings belong to the modern world because of what was done in the past.

God’s kingdom is the same.  But, it is better. We know that as grand and brilliant as life is, it is temporary.  We are passing through.  We are born to live, love, create, serve….and we are born to know Our Savior Who will one day call us home to His kingdom.  What He accomplished for us in the past, has guaranteed our future.

He is Creator, Author of Life, Source of all knowledge and wisdom.   Beyond the immense and endless marvels of space seen through the Hubble telescope, and more amazing than the endless variety and intricacy of life on this planet , there is a Redeemer who has gone ahead to prepare a place for us, that where He is, we may be also.   John 14:2-3

Hosanna to the King!  Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the LORD.  Hosanna in the highest!    We praise and bless You, Our Redeemer, Our Holy God.  You have assured as that as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is Your love towards those who honor You.    We honor You, LORD.  We lift You up.  We proclaim Your kingdom and Your power.  Amen!

“Be still, and know that I AM GOD.    I will be exalted among the nations.  I will be exalted in all the earth.”  Ps: 46:10
